Davis is a PhD student studying viral impacts on apple growth and production. His work centers on Apple stem grooving virus (ASGV), using in situ hybridization to localize virus in apple tissues, QTL mapping to identify rootstock resistance loci, and comparative physiology of virus-clean versus virus-infected trees.
