Sarah is a PhD student in the Londo Lab investigating the genetics and physiology of apple vascular traits. She received her Bachelor’s in Plant Breeding Biotechnology from Missouri State University in 2023. She first joined Cornell AgriTech as a Summer Scholar in 2022 working on stomatal conductance in apple trees in the Londo Lab. Her current research focuses on the vasculature across various apple growth forms including dwarfing (Dw1/Dw2), columnar (Co), and weeping (Lazy) traits. She is combining the architectural characteristics of leaf, branch, and trunk morphology with root phenotyping and molecular markers to understand whether the genetic signals that shape above-ground tree architecture are recapitulated in root system architecture.
